Analysis

Plot the data for individual riders in the manner suggested and obtain the related velocity and acceleration curves. What can be said about the reliability of the derived quantities - velocity and acceleration - as compared to the measured quantities - position and time? Does plotting a trendline through the data and taking the slope of this line alter the estimated velocities? How does using a trendline through the velocity data effect the acceleration estimates?

Measure the area under the velocity-time curve. This gives the total distance travelled between the start and finish points. Does this area agree with the measured length of the course? If not, where is the source of error and how large is it?

Measure the area under the acceleration-time curve. This gives the velocity change between the start and the finish. Does this agree with the measured final velocity if the bike was initially at rest? If not, where is the source of error and how large is it?

Use the acceleration data and the mass of the bicycle-rider system being considered to estimate the force acting on the system as a function of time. Identify some of these forces. How does the force due to air resistance influence your data?
