Women quickly became bicycle users. The photograph shows an 1895 Cleveland women's bike sporting a skirt guard over the rear wheel and a frame without a crossbar for easy mounting. Significant social discussion centered on the propriety of using this new mode of transportation!

The bike shown uses tangential spokes for its wheels, and appears to have a 'coaster brake' for the rear wheel. Structural stability for the frame and head tube is achieved by doubling up the tube between the bottom bracket and the head tube.
