The picture below shows an attempt to rethink the bicycle by Alex Moulton. The bike has small high-pressure tires and fully sprung front and rear suspension. The springing medium is rubber. The bike has an epicyclic gear box in the rear wheel. The frame tubes are designed to take bending loads in addition to the tensile and compressive loads encountered in the conventional bike frame.
