The samples shown have all been tested in uniaxial tension using a constant
strain rate. The pictures show ductile samples that have necked before
ductile fracture, and brittle samples that fracture normal to the tensile
axis. Shear lips at 450 to the tensile
axis occur in some ductile samples.
