metallurgical methods, rolled, forged, extruded, and
welded. In addition, its properties can be controlled by heat treatment after
fabrication. · The annealed
Al-6Al-4V alloy has a UTS
of circa 895 MPa and a K1c of circa 55 MPa. m0.5.
These properties are due to the substitutional and interstitial elements
that form solid
solutions in the α
and β phases. · Proper
control of the grain structure of this alloy permits it to be shaped
using super-plastic deformation methods
