Sunday Follow Roaring Brook Trail to Hopper Trail to AT. Hike south on AT to Mark Noepel

Lean-to. Very long and hard, start as soon as you get dropped of.

Carry water in - spring at Mark Noepel, but may be dry. Roaring Brook along first

part of hike; Deer Hill falls.

Campsite1:
Mark Noepel Lean-to
Monday Hike South on AT through Cheshire. Follow trail markers and blazes for AT. BE

CAREFUL ON ROADS. Continue on AT over The Cobbles (very pretty) to Crystal

Mtn. Campsite. There's no sign for Crystal Mtn so watch for the trail. If you hit the

powerlines, you've gone too far. *This is a long, hilly day so start early and watch the

map*

Tuesday Hike south on AT across Rt. 9 through Dalton. In Dalton, follow the white blazes down

Gulf Road, cross Park Ave to High Street. Follow High Street until it dead-ends at the

jct of Rts. 8 and 9. Cross intersection and go East on Rt. 8. Turn Right onto Depot

Street. From end of Depot St, cross Housatonic St onto dirt lumber-company

driveway. Continue on AT to Kay Wood Shelter. Side trail leads 0.2 miles to Kay

Wood Lean-to.

Campsite3:
Kay Wood Lean-to (Kay Wood is small, so try to get there early)
Wednes Hike south on AT to October Mountain Shelter, camp. Besides support water-drop,

potentially no water between campsites, so be sure to fill up before leaving Kay Wood.

Green Flag: Will meet MA59 at 12:30 water-drop. Do not use the bear bagging system

set up at the campsite. The Bears on the MA AT are smart and have figured it out.

0.7 miles west on Blotz Road, stream 1 mile south of Blotz Road, October Mountain

Shelter

October Mtn Lean-to (do not use bear bagging system set up at campsite
Thursday Hike south on AT to Upper Goose Pond camping area (side trail to camping area). Get

out early so you have time to enjoy Goose Pond. Donation was already made to the

MA AT committee. Show Mary Pat Yarusites (the caretaker) the receit enclosed in

packet from Debbie Klaber if necessary. Spring may be dry, so bring water filter. Bear

bags go in caretaker's cabin. ONLY ONE PRINCETON GROUP CAN CAMP HERE AT

A TIME.

make sure you have a water filter.

Friday Hike North on AT, crossing Mass Pike (I-90) on twin bridges (make sure to use ramps, to minimize errosion), to Jct of AT and Rt 20. 50

ft from trail jct, at the Lee-Becket town line, is a pull-off.
