Sweet Summer Sounds By Frank Wojciechowski In August 7, the jazz music of Alex Kontorovich 02 and Adrian Banner
*02 floated out over Frist Campus Centers south courtyard, part
of a free summer concert series. Kontorovich, a math major from Plainsboro,
New Jersey, is headed to Columbia for graduate work in the fall. He began
playing saxophone in the eighth grade and joined the Princeton University
Jazz Ensemble as a high school senior. Banner, whose doctoral degree is
also in math and who now works for an investment firm (and as a Princeton
lecturer), has played piano since he was three. The two met in 1997 in
PUJE and have played for several different groups, including the Klez
Dispensers, a campus klezmer band they cofounded.
