Princeton’s
poker-playing undergraduates, recently profiled in a flurry of articles
about high-stakes and online gambling on college campuses, may just be
continuing a long-standing tradition illustrated by these members of the
Class of 1943. Playing cards while waiting to see the dean of admission
in September 1939 are, from left, John Durrell, E. Jan Nadelman, and W.
