WELCOME TO WHITMAN - John Ziegler, assistant to the vice president for facilities, leads a Sept. 6 tour of Whitman College, which opens its doors to students this week. The residential college is named for donor Meg Whitman '77, the CEO of eBay, and the arches behind Ziegler are part of Wright Cloister, named in honor of Thomas H. Wright ’62, a former University vice president and secretary.

TIGER TIME - Football fan Lauren Nigro ’09 shows her stripes during Princeton’s Sept. 15 opener against Lehigh. The visiting Mountain Hawks took advantage of Princeton miscues to build a 23-0 lead in the first half and held on to win, 32-21. The Tigers play at Lafayette Sept. 22 and return home to face Columbia Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m.

CUTTING THE RIBBON - Meg Whitman ’77, CEO of eBay, was on hand in the Sept. 27 when the University dedicated Whitman College, Princeton’s newest residential college. Whitman was the lead donor for the dormitory complex, designed by Demetri Porphyrios *80, which opened its doors to students in early September.

A NEW HOME IN OLD STANHOPE - Valerie Smith, middle, the director of the Center for African American Studies, joins students, faculty, and staff at the Oct. 2 dedication of the center’s new home at the refurbished Stanhope Hall. Smith said she hopes that the center will be a “gathering space for intellectual exchange” about issues of race in America.

MAKING A SPLASH - The rain at Princeton Stadium did little to slow down Jordan Culbreath '10, a backup tailback who ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns in Princeton's 34-31 win over Cornell Oct. 26. Culbreath was named Offensive Player of the Week in the Ivy League.

KICKLINE OF LIBERTY -- Members of the Princeton Triangle Club practice the grand finale of this year's fall revue, A Turnpike Runs Through It, a tribute to New Jersey that played at McCarter Theatre Nov. 9 and 10. Triangle will take its show on the road in late January with stops in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.

UP WITH OOMPH -- Men’s basketball center Zach Finley ’10 muscles through the defense during Princeton’s 66-58 win over Iona Nov. 14. The Tigers won their first two games under new coach Sydney Johnson ’97 before falling to Duke 83-61 in the first round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational Nov. 19.

THE BEAT GOES ON - Drummer Hannah Valdez '11 and the Princeton Band rallied the crowd at men's basketball's Jan. 9 home game against Lafayette. The Tigers led by as many as 18 points in the first half, but the Leopards fought back to win in overtime, handing Princeton its 12th consecutive loss.

MAGIC CARPET RIDE - The classic story of Aladdin earned top billing at Princyclopedia 2008, sponsored by the Cotsen Children’s Library and held in Dillon Gym March 29. Julia Solorzano ’10 got into the spirit with a ride on this “magic carpet,” a makeshift hovercraft consisting of a leaf blower and an inflated air mattress.

REUNIONS 2008 -- Alex Peters '08 sets a fast pace as members of this year's graduating class join the P-rade May 31 during Princeton Reunions. The Alumni Association was expecting about 20,000 alumni, family, and friends on campus during the four-day event. Commencement for the Class of 2008 is June 3. TIGER ROWER STRIKES GOLD -- Caroline Lind '06, standing second from right, celebrates with members of the U.S. women's eight after the team won the gold medal Aug. 17 at the Beijing Olympics. Lind's classmate, Steve Coppola '06. was a member of the U.S. men's eight rowing team, which won an Olympic bronze medal. A third member of the Class of 2006, Andreanne Morin of the Canadian women's eight, missed a medal by less than a second, finishing fourth in the event finals.
