A letter
from an alumnus about divesting in Israel
May 18, 2002
It occurs to me that, rather than follow the herd in divesting in Israel,
the females of Princeton's faculty/student body might do better to consider
divesting in the Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, where women
are not allowed to drive, must sit in the rear of cars, cannot work or
leave home without a male relative, or certainly not go to an elite school
become president of same, wherein so many women have worked so hard to
break the coeducational boundaries. Certainly, Israel is the middle east
leader in women's rights, where women routinely serve in the military.
Just being admitted to Princeton does not relieve you of the onus of original
thought, ladies.
