A letter from a reader about Memories of Edith Wilson

I enjoyed very much the perspective on Woodrow Wilson 1879 presented in the April 19 issue (cover story).  The attention strikes me as very timely and important for our present political culture.    

But I am prompted to write by personal associations. As a child I remember my father, Henry M. Bruen 1896, talking about Woodrow Wilson as his teacher of “jurisprudence.” I also remember my mother telling me that in 1939 Wilson’s widow, Edith, had given me the first piece of chewing gum I ever had and that, having just arrived in the United States as a child of missionaries in Korea, I did not know what chewing gum was.
