about President
Hibben's papers
The
hidden President Hibben
I have been told by a
credible source that President Hibben in fact left instructions
to have most of his papers destroyed, and that his daughter Beth
carried out his wish. The reason given was that the papers contained
controversial or sensitive information that Dr. Hibben did not want
passed on.
The remaining mystery
is what the content of the papers may have been, to cause such a
drastic action. If I have it right, it had to do with a long-standing
argument within the university administration, which Hibben had
attempted to resolve. Can anyone enlighten us further?
