A letter from a reader about Iraq and ‘our nation’s service’
The Robertson family’s generosity to Princeton has been exemplary, and often recognized as such. It has not, however, been unexampled. Unfortunately for all, their complaints have. Reading their latest effort (Notebook March 8, April 5), one has the impression that Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School has been confused with a sort of trade school placement agency. The recent appalling examples in Iraq of the “contributions to our nation’s service” made by a number of graduates of a sister institution can be read as a salutary lesson of fools rushing in. Graduates of WWS may not be angels, but at least the Robertsons must admit that they have learned not to add to the world’s ills.
