I would like to suggest that Princeton begin a serious teach-in on the issues of American foreign policy that are related to the current crisis at home and abroad. Professor Richard Falk would be an ideal person to organize and preside over it. Students, faculty and alumni should be encouraged to attend. Faculty from the natural and biological sciences should be particularly encouraged to discuss such issues as biological terrorism and warfare and the danger of small, tactical nuclear weapons as instruments of terrorism. We need experts on comparative religion, geography, military history, history of the Middle East, poliitcal science, intelligence, sociology, literary cricitism and theory, anthropology, and international law to participate.

Certain books would be extremely valuable for the basis of discussion. "Empire" by Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri, as well as "Taliban-Militant Islam, Oil & Fundamentalism in Centnral Asia" by Ahmed Rashid , are certainly significant.
