Conclusions
Security issues :
- Twofish exhibits strong local encryption, while the rounds take care of global diffusion.
- No successful attack so far.
Performance issues:
- Fastest on a Pentium and second fastest on Pentium Pro/II.
- Designed with hardware implementations in mind.
- Round structure can be easily pipelined.
General Design Philosophy:
- Avoid complex ad-hoc elements. Simplicity is very important.
- Be conservative: Always provide more security than is provably required.
