For a sample of uniform cross-section subjected to a constant torque, T, the angular displacement,
f ,at a distance L from the fixed end is given by: f = TL/JG. Use this relationship to obtain a value for the shear modulus, G, of the sample material. Compare this value with published values.

What conclusions can you draw about the selection of materials for torsion loads in HPVs? Are there practical limits on the value of J that can be obtained with a fixed mass of a given material? What is the cause of these limits?
