· As is the case for many new fabrication methods the design of parts to be made by powder metallurgy needs to be reconsidered to take full advantage of the technique.
· The shapes shown opposite are the machined designs (left) and the powder metallurgy designs (right).
· The powder metallurgy parts avoid sharp section changes as compaction density is hard to control in such regions. Rounded edge features are employed to maintain green shape strength.
