Failure Mechanisms

· Taking the logarithm of the Dorn-Weertman equation gives:

· A plot of ln (creep rate) vs. 1/kT should have a slope equal to the energy of self diffusion energy of the material.
· The correlation between the activation energy for creep and the self diffusion energy is also seen to be good for a wide range of materials
